Diwali Festival spells sparkle, festivity and fire crackers. But the joy of deepawali celebration could actually be damaging our Mother Earth in the long term!

So this year, why not “Go Green”?

We don’t mean to stop celebrating the festival but we actually mean to change the way we  celebrate this festival of lights…

It’s not as difficult as you thought, just a bit of efforts will make your city free from environmental hazards.

Lets  celebrate an GREEN  Eco Sensitive Diwali?

Pollution level during Deepawali goes up by 30%

Experts say that during Diwali, the air pollution level is likely to increase by 30%, which will not only be dangerous for those suffering from pulmonary diseases, but also cause breathing problem to others.
The smog is a combination of fog and smoke or other air pollutants. It is created when moisture level is high in the atmosphere. It does not allow the tiny particles of pollutants to dissipate, and instead tiny water droplets carrying fine particles of pollutants and dust remain suspended in the atmosphere. At present the speed of the wind is very low. As a result, the smog is virtually hanging in the atmosphere, resulting in hazy conditions. The authorities are aware of the fact that the pollution level are alarming in the city and the fire crackers will increase it further.

Experts also said that the crackers contain elements like copper, cadmium, sulphur, aluminium, barium and various others that help in releasing vibrant colours after it is ignited. Once a cracker is burnt, it releases toxic chemicals that remain suspended for long time causing serious health aliments. The heavy metals remain in the atmosphere for long and then get oxidised before entering the food chain through vegetables.

  1. It’s relay good effort by Message Institution. Go Ahead……….
    Principle of three R’s

Reduce – air and noise pollution by reassessing the importance of a smoke-free environment.
    Refuse – to light crackers.
Rethink – before you go to the market to shop for toxic and expensive crackers.

So, spread the word and celebrate a cracker-free, smoke-free and illness-free Diwali.

  2. How to celebrate eco-sensitive diwali?

    Plant a Tree
Share food, sweets and clothes with the lesser privileged.
Donate for relief operations in Karnataka.
Instead of individual celebration prefer community celebration in a open ground.
Instead of electric illumination for long hours go for traditional lightening of earthen lamps or diyas.
Reduce the amount of things we use.
Reuse the things we have in different forms until we have absolutely no use for them
Recycle items that are no longer functional.
Rethink the choices we make when deciding to buy something
Refuse things that we do not need at all.
All gift wrapping paper should be made out of recycled paper.
Send out e-cards or text messages. No fancy Diwali cards.

  3. Have a safe, green Diwali!
    1. “Burst crackers and be a new patient of lung cancer”

    2. “Think before you burst”

    3. “Diyas light lightes better than Crackers”

    4. “Burst Crackers if you want to spoil the nature”.

Diwali is a day of light, dont pollute it Light in the mind, love in the heart, Light the cracker

See the world, think and hold, stop to Pollute.to darkness!

Crackers spread pollution…not love and harmony.Avoid them.

  4. Can there be a Diwali celebration with planting the same number of trees comparing the number of crackers we burn. Can there be thought of Happy Green Diwali.

Green Diwali a day for the entire earth, a day of celebrating with exchanging of plants, flowers and small buds.
Buying happiness for this entire instead of making self or single happiness. A day to laugh and greet a lot with spreading love of planting. Preparing rangoli with colorful flowers, mud and giving good food and clothes to those who can’t afford it. Giving love and giving love can be our moto.

Play safe Diwali plant more tress and encourage Green Diwali.
